Moonlight was a short-lived
American TV series featuring the vampire private-eye, played by Aussie Alex O’Loughlin.
It lasted just sixteen episodes despite ratings that were far better than some
other shows that were brought back for second seasons. The series played a lot
of background music by many established and up and coming singers and bands.
Fans of the show were soon buzzing on the various forums devoted to Moonlight, to
find the titles of songs played in each episode.
The show was first broadcast on U.S. TV on the
CBS network on September 28th 2007. The final episode was aired on May 16th 2008. Because of the writer’s strike that year, there were
only ever 16 episodes made. Despite a huge outcry by devoted fans, CBS would not
change its mind and although there was interest from the Sci-Fi channel, no other network
came forward to rescue the series. There is talk of a feature-length film being
made in the future, but nothing definite yet.
So, Mick St. John, vampire detective, has
joined the ranks of those characters that the public love to see, but that the
network execs decide to give the chop to!
